We Are Indie High!

Happy Hump Day Indie peeps, I hope your creative juices have been overflowing this week! May I start off by stating how BOMB our first Indie High Saturday was! Woot! Woot! Being that it was my first ever Indie High experience, I was super excited about what the night would bring and all of the new people I would meet. When I tell you, y’all did not disappoint! It was a WHOLE VIBE literally the entire night thanks to DJ Silly Willy. He played all the jams, and the way he seamlessly transitioned into each song was nothing short of spectacular. Also, shout out to our two performances, MPAC World and Intellect Allison, who were so amazingly captivating, and shout out to all who attended because we couldn’t do this without you. The support that you shower over each other and the Indie High brand is phenomenal. The whole night was a lot of fun getting to know you guys and being blessed with your talents, so thank you so much. Lastly, I appreciate all of you for being such a gracious audience by allowing me to perform my poem for you. The love I received definitely meant a lot to me since it was my first time reciting my poetry to an audience. For those of you who missed it or who are interested in re-reading it, I will post it at the end of this blog.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed Indie High Saturday just as much-or more than-I did. If you were one of the unlucky ones who missed it, please make it your business to be at the next one because you’re missing out on meeting a lot of dope souls with endless talent, and not to mention a great networking opportunity. The Ride...

I feel like a leaf just blowing in the wind

No destination, no control

I'm just along for the ride...

I feel like I'm tumbling down a flight of stairs with nothing to grab onto.

I'm reaching out, but I'm falling deeper into the darkness. Now, I'm just along for the ride.

Though there are highs to complement the lows,

They are full of temporary "highs" and quick blows

Cause I was just along for the "ride"

Searching for companionship to combat the loneliness I felt when he left me,

I began to hate the fact that I loved to love

But I loved the fact that I hated the hate that was left in my heart.

Was trying to get off this emotional roller coaster Though now I'm just along for the ride.

I'm looking for love and tryna find my faith

I'm looking to God to find my place

Everybody’s telling me to be patient, but nah, fuck that

I can't slow my pace!

I'm stressed out, I'm going crazy, I'm out of my mind.

But I'm on my journey to success, I gotta catch this tide cause I'm racing with time...

But until I reach my final destination, I'm just along for the ride...
