A title I couldn’t be more proud of holding.

A privilege in all honesty.

Motherhood has changed my perception of life in so many ways.

It’s made me aware of strengths & power I never knew I had.

It’s also made me aware of my flaws, my imperfections, & downfalls

Motherhood is scary at times.

Motherhood is hard AF.

But then I remember

I’m a mother.

I’m a woman.

I hold great power within.

I gave birth to some of the most beautiful beings on this planet.

By far my greatest accomplishment.

When I look into my seeds eyes there’s no comparison.

Children are a reflection of you

That reflection is what will change you.

That reflection is what has changed me.

That reflection is motherhood.

Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing Moms out there!! This piece is dedicated to YOU!! You are loved, you are appreciated, & you’re the SHIT!! Much love & light from one Momma to another ❤️✨

What’s up Indie High fam?! Long time no see I know, but we are back in business! I hope that you all have been staying safe and healthy during this pandemic. This is truly something that we have never seen before. We are in trying times, but I believe this is an optimal time for creatives and independent artists. With everyone being quarantined at home, this is the perfect opportunity to start a business, push out new content, and network with new people. When are we going to get a better opportunity than this? Right now, society is being primed for people like us: independent go-getters and self-starters. Many people were laid off as a result of COVID-19 and unable to provide for their families, but what if they had a sustainable business that could be ran online? The sky is the limit. Now I want to open a dialog and get you guys to be a little more interactive with me. I have two questions for you: 1) How has the quarantine affected you creatively? This could be a negative or positive or both! 2) If you could have started a business during this time, what type of business would it be and why? I want you guys to go to IG and DM me (@writeliketash) with either a written answer or video snippet of your answers. Some will be reposted on mine and the Indie High Radio account. I want us all to stay connected and supportive of each other during this time until we can get back to our Indie High events. I will be posting weekly prompts, challenges or questions so that we can all share our talents and get to know each other better. This pandemic will not stop us from getting Indie High! Do not forget that you can also nominate your favorite artist or entrepreneur to be featured on an Indie High blog. Well guys, that is all for now. Make sure you slide in my DMs with your answers to this week’s questions and catch me here next week! Stay Indie High!

Happy Hump Day Indie peeps, I hope your creative juices have been overflowing this week! May I start off by stating how BOMB our first Indie High Saturday was! Woot! Woot! Being that it was my first ever Indie High experience, I was super excited about what the night would bring and all of the new people I would meet. When I tell you, y’all did not disappoint! It was a WHOLE VIBE literally the entire night thanks to DJ Silly Willy. He played all the jams, and the way he seamlessly transitioned into each song was nothing short of spectacular. Also, shout out to our two performances, MPAC World and Intellect Allison, who were so amazingly captivating, and shout out to all who attended because we couldn’t do this without you. The support that you shower over each other and the Indie High brand is phenomenal. The whole night was a lot of fun getting to know you guys and being blessed with your talents, so thank you so much. Lastly, I appreciate all of you for being such a gracious audience by allowing me to perform my poem for you. The love I received definitely meant a lot to me since it was my first time reciting my poetry to an audience. For those of you who missed it or who are interested in re-reading it, I will post it at the end of this blog.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed Indie High Saturday just as much-or more than-I did. If you were one of the unlucky ones who missed it, please make it your business to be at the next one because you’re missing out on meeting a lot of dope souls with endless talent, and not to mention a great networking opportunity. So, tell a friend to bring a friend then tell them to bring three more friends and let’s get Indie High! Don’t forget to check back here on Monday for the next post where I will be highlighting a very special artist or entrepreneur. If you or someone you know is a creative that’s been killing the game and would like to be featured on our blog, email us at, DM me on IG @iam.treasured or on Twitter at @writeliketash telling us who you are, where you’re from and a few interesting facts about your art and/or business and I will reach back out to you from there. Until next time y’all stay blessed, stay focused, stay Indie High! Poem below:

The Ride...

I feel like a leaf just blowing in the wind

No destination, no control

I'm just along for the ride...

I feel like I'm tumbling down a flight of stairs with nothing to grab onto.

I'm reaching out, but I'm falling deeper into the darkness. Now, I'm just along for the ride.

Though there are highs to complement the lows,

They are full of temporary "highs" and quick blows

Cause I was just along for the "ride"

Searching for companionship to combat the loneliness I felt when he left me,

I began to hate the fact that I loved to love

But I loved the fact that I hated the hate that was left in my heart.

Was trying to get off this emotional roller coaster Though now I'm just along for the ride.

I'm looking for love and tryna find my faith

I'm looking to God to find my place

Everybody’s telling me to be patient, but nah, fuck that

I can't slow my pace!

I'm stressed out, I'm going crazy, I'm out of my mind.

But I'm on my journey to success, I gotta catch this tide cause I'm racing with time...

But until I reach my final destination, I'm just along for the ride...
